Drees Homes’ President and CEO David Drees represents the third generation to continue the family business begun by his grandfather Theodore in 1928. Today, Drees Homes is celebrating over 95 years of building excellence and is the 18th largest privately-owned home builder in the country with operations spanning 10 metros across the Midwest, Southeast and Texas. 

Under David’s leadership, Drees Homes earned more than $1.5 billion in revenue last year. Additionally, the company was recently named a U.S. Best Managed Company, a program sponsored by Deloitte Private and The Wall Street Journal, and was certificated as a Great Place to Work while also being honored on Fortune’s Best Workplaces in Construction list.  

Since assuming the role of CEO in 2000, David has been instrumental in cultivating a culture that promotes an unwavering commitment to customers and always doing what’s right. The company’s commitment to excellence now runs four generations deep. Today, David’s children continue to carry on the legacy of The Drees Company. David’s daughter, Alexa Drees Walker, oversees the Midwest Design Centers, and his son, Scott Drees, manages sales in the Indianapolis division.  

In addition to involvement within the industry, David is deeply committed to investing in the local community. He currently serves on the Fifth Third Bank Board of Advisors, Cincinnati Regional Business Committee and Northern Kentucky Regional Alliance while also being an active contributor to the Leading Builders of America. 

David holds a bachelor’s degree in business and residential construction from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and a master’s degree in business from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. David and his wife Karen reside in northern Kentucky. They have three children and one grandchild.
