John is a seasoned board member with over 30 years of experience serving on both for-profit and non-profit boards. He is a proven data-driven leader with nearly four decades of data science, worldwide business, and technology transformation experience across Microsoft and IBM. In 2021, John was named as one of the top 15 data professionals globally, transforming, and redefining business and industry.

John has extensive board experience as a board member and strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of multiple companies. He has served as Chairman of the Board and has been part of boards that have acquired five companies, sold one, and taken one public.

Currently, John sits on the board of U.S. Venture, a privately held multi-billion-dollar distributor of energy products and tires. He also sits on the executive board of MidOcean Partners, a premier alternative asset manager specializing in mid-market private equity and alternative credit investments. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Advisors for Stagwell, where he advises their CEO in their mission to transform marketing through impactful technology. He is on the Board of SiteImpact, a leader in providing multi-channel direct digital marketing solutions. He also serves as a Strategic Data Advisor to the CEO of Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation and on the board Novartis Foundation where he advises on the use of AI to help drive improvements in cardiovascular disease in low-income areas. Finally, he is Chairman of the Board of the Aaron Matthew SIDS Research Foundation of Seattle Children’s.

At Microsoft, John worked directly with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team on data and strategies that helped transform Microsoft into a $2T+ company. In his last role reporting to the president, he was responsible for infusing data science and AI to address some of the world’s greatest challenges: improving health including addressing the pandemic crisis worldwide; promoting sustainable use.

Prior to Microsoft, John worked for 18 years at IBM and held several roles using data to drive profitable growth across IBM's businesses. In his last role as VP of Integrated Marketing Communications, John was responsible for transforming Marketing and was responsible for a multi-billion-dollar P&L managing 1300+ employees worldwide.
